Sue creates one-of-a-kind sculptures in stone for a home or garden. She believes that each stone has its own story to tell and the carving process is about discovering that story. For more about Sue visit her website at www.SueTavesSculpture.com.
Lane produces figurative sculpture, but with a twist. His work is suggestive rather than representational, and uses free flowing organic forms as staging for metaphoric realism.
Lloyd Whannell is the owner of Fine Art Builders, a custom stone fabrication business, which does countertops, fine art sculpture, memorials and other custom stone work. Visit my web site at fineartbuilders.com. , or contact me at lwhannell@yahoo.com.

Join us for a “Business After Hours” event 5-7 PM on Thursday June 13. Come and see the work space of nine local artists who work in stone, metal, clay, glass, wood, mixed media and water. Meet the artists; Penelope Crittenden, Carol Rose Dean, Tom Lindsay, Woody Morris, Sara Owens, Frank Rose, Sue Taves, Lane Tompkins, and Lloyd Whannell. See fine art sculpture large and small, jewelry, ceramic tile and water features. Enjoy snacks and refreshments as you gain insight into the creative process and even win some art! We’ll be raffling off several beautiful items as well as demonstrating our new lapidary saw. We’ll be opening some geodes to look for surprises inside, if you’ve got your own mystery geode bring it along and we’ll slice it open!
You can find us at 1660 Roberta Avenue off of Harbor Ave in Freeland (behind Whidbey Island Bank and Waif Thrift.)
From Hwy 525, turn on Harbor Ave (one block south of the Main St/525 stoplight). Take an immediate Left onto Roberta between Whidbey Island Bank and Wells Fargo. Turn Left at Waif Thrift. Dean Tile is in the front building, all other studios spaces are in the back building.
